Sujata Bhat

Sujata was previously an Associate Partner in NewSchools Venture Fund's Washington, DC office. Prior to joining NewSchools, she was the founding Executive Director of My School DC, the common application and lottery system for district and public charter schools in DC. In its first year of operation, My School DC collected applications from more than 22,000 students for approximately 200 schools. Prior to My School DC, Sujata was the Director of Operations at DC Prep, a high-performing charter network in DC. Sujata holds an BA in Human Development from the University of Chicago and a MPA from the Woodrow Wilson School at Princeton University.

Annie Fullas

Special Assistant to the CEO

Annie Fullas

Annie is responsible for developing and managing systems, driving operational excellence, and executing administrative tasks to maximize the impact of our Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and team. Prior to joining Education Forward DC, Annie gained non-profit association experience both in Iowa and Washington, D.C. Most recently, she coordinated board, governance, and executive leadership relations at a healthcare trade association. Prior to that, Annie steered and supported vocational and academic programs within higher education. Annie holds a Master of Arts in Ethics, Peace, and Global Affairs from American University and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Simpson College.

Maura Marino

Maura Marino

Maura previously served as the Managing Partner of the DC Schools Fund at NewSchools Venture Fund. Prior to joining NewSchools, Maura served as Program Director and Lead Teacher at East Palo Alto High School, a charter school in Northern California founded by Aspire Public Schools. During graduate school, Maura worked on the Network Growth Team at the KIPP Foundation, implementing their national growth strategy. Maura sits on the board of directors for DC Prep, E.L. Haynes, and Ingenuity Prep Public Charter Schools, as well as Charter Board Partners and the Bainum Family Foundation. Maura earned a BA with honors in American Studies from Stanford University, an MA in teaching secondary social studies from Columbia University, and an MBA from Harvard University.

Sean O'Neill

Sean O'Neill

Prior to joining Education Forward DC, Sean served as an Associate Program Officer with the American Cities Practice of the Kresge Foundation. Previously, he led the Talent Management strategy team for Denver Public Schools, where he participated in the Broad Residency in Urban Education. Prior to his time in Denver, Sean spent many years in DC, working as a management consultant at the Boston Consulting Group and as a development specialist for the Brookings Institution. Sean earned a BS in Hospitality Administration from Cornell University, an MBA from the University of Virginia, and an MEd from the Broad Center.

Shalini Shybut

Shalini Shybut

Shalini Ananthanarayanan Shybut focuses on diligence and management assistance for grantees of Education Forward DC. She was previously an Associate Partner at NewSchools Venture Fund. Prior to joining NewSchools, Shalini was a Senior Director at E.L. Haynes Public Charter School, where she led the school’s implementation of Response to Intervention. Shalini also served as a consultant to the Recovery School District, following several years as a management consultant at McKinsey & Company. Shalini started her career with Teach For America as a fifth grade teacher in a bilingual inclusion classroom. She earned a BA in Social Studies at Harvard College and an Advanced Certificate in Bilingual Childhood Education at Pace University.

Caitlin Campbell-Hahn

Caitlin Campbell-Hahn

Caitlin focuses on investment diligence and management assistance for Education Forward DC grantees. She has more than seven years of classroom teaching experience in charter middle schools. Prior to joining Education Forward DC, Caitlin taught seventh grade social studies at KIPP DC: KEY Academy and fifth grade writing and science at E.L. Haynes Public Charter School. Before moving to Washington, DC, Caitlin coached student teachers working toward licensure in social studies teaching through the Harvard Graduate School of Education. Caitlin started her career at Excel Academy Charter School in East Boston, where she taught fifth grade math and fifth and sixth grade social studies. Caitlin earned a BA in History and Literature from Harvard College and a master’s degree in Learning and Teaching with a focus in Social Studies Instructional Leadership from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.

Ryan Jones

Associate, Communications and Partnerships

Ryan Jones

Prior to joining Education Forward DC, Ryan was the Director of Member Services and Initiatives at the Regional Business Council, a consortium of Presidents and Chief Executive Officers that act on high-impact business, civic, and philanthropic affairs for the betterment of the St. Louis region. His responsibilities included managing aspects of membership engagement and the organization’s focus areas, including K-12 education, workforce development, and diversity and inclusion initiatives. In this role, Ryan managed the allocation of over $1 million in direct grants to support school districts and small business owners in the Ferguson, MO community. Before his work at the Regional Business Council, Ryan was the blended learning instructor for 5th and 6th grade students at KIPP Inspire Academy in St. Louis. Ryan began his career teaching tenth and twelfth grade English as a Teach For America corps member. Ryan earned a BA in Sociology and Anthropology with a minor in English Literature from DePauw University and a master’s degree in Secondary Education from the University of Missouri.

Lucia Mendez

Lucia Mendez

Lucia serves on Education Forward DC's public engagement grantmaking team and conducts due diligence and provides strategic management assistance to organizations in the public engagement portfolio. Prior to joining Education Forward DC, Lucia served as a Senior Policy Analyst at the Hispanic Federation where she developed and advanced the organization's federal legislative portfolio in K-12 and higher education. Lucia has worked in education at the local, national, and federal levels through various positions held at the U.S. Department of Education, Achieving the Dream, the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanics and the Latino Student Fund. Lucia is a first generation college graduate and earned her BA from Texas Tech University and her MA from American University. She currently lives with her husband in Washington, DC.

Bisi Oyedele

Bisi Oyedele

Prior to leading our Schools grantmaking team, Bisi was a Leadership Effectiveness Director at the Lynch Leadership Academy at Boston College. There, Bisi was responsible for designing and delivering curriculum to train and prepare school principals, providing individualized coaching and support to program participants, and providing strategic support to public schools, charter management organizations, and the Archdiocese of Boston. Before joining Lynch Leadership Academy, Bisi was the Executive Director of Match Charter Public High School, a two-time recipient of New Leaders' Gold Level EPIC awards. Earlier in his career, Bisi was Principal of Nativity Preparatory School in Jamaica Plain, MA. Under his direction, Nativity designed a new teacher preparation program that led to increased student achievement as reflected on MAPs and Stanford 10 assessments, and improved high school placement of Nativity's graduates. Before being a Principal and Mentor Prinicipal in the Nativity Miguel Network, Bisi was a history and English teacher, and also served as a Social Studies department chair. He began his education career as an Americorp Corps member in Boston, MA. Bisi holds a Doctorate in Education Administration, a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction and Secondary History Education, and a BA in Political Science from Boston College.

Fonda Sutton

Partner, Public Engagement

Fonda Sutton

Fonda leads our Public Engagement grantmaking team, having served most recently as the Chief Political Advisor for DC Public Schools (DCPS). At DCPS, she managed the school district’s policy, legislative, and intergovernmental affairs. Fonda has blended over twenty years of legal and policy experience in non-profits, schools, consulting organizations, and government with her passion for serving children and families in underserved communities. Fonda has extensive experience managing projects and people within government agencies and private organizations. She helped to establish two public charter schools in DC and has served as a consultant to schools, authorizers, states, and urban city districts. Fonda is well-known for developing strong cross-sector partnerships that support high-quality education opportunities for children and families. Having earned a BS from Georgetown University’s Walsh School of Foreign Service, a J.D. from its Law Center and an Executive Master's in Leadership from its McDonough School of Business, Fonda is a diehard Georgetown Hoyas fan. She has made her home in DC for more than 30 years and lives in the Manor Park neighborhood with her rescue pit bull, Bruno.

Margie Yeager

Partner, Advocacy

Margie Yeager

Prior to leading our Advocacy grantmaking work, Margie was the Director of Advocacy and Policy at Chiefs for Change, supporting its bipartisan coalition of state and district leaders. Margie has done extensive policy and advocacy work at both the national and local levels, working in various leadership roles in the Office of the DC Deputy Mayor for Education, EducationCounsel, and DC Public Schools (DCPS). Previously, she also completed a fellowship program at the U.S. Department of Education. Margie began her career as a second-grade teacher at Simon Elementary in DCPS with Teach for America. She received her BA from Tufts University and her MPP from the Harvard Kennedy School with honors. Margie sits on the board of several local non-profit organizations and has three young boys, the oldest two of whom attend DCPS.

Jacquelyn Davis

Partner, Human Capital

Jacquelyn Davis

Jacquelyn has worked with entrepreneurs and national philanthropies on strategy, new initiative design, growth and start-up, and management. She has worked as a subject expert in the areas of human capital, school turnaround, charter management, and state and city education redesign. Previously, Jacquelyn served as an Education Fellow to the George W. Bush Institute and launched New Leaders DC, a national nonprofit that attracts, prepares, and supports outstanding school leaders. She co-founded Thurgood Marshall Academy Public Charter High School and Hands on DC. Prior to her work in education, she served as a Congressional Chief of Staff, Legislative Director, Legislative Assistant, and a Congressional campaign manager. Jacquelyn earned a J.D. with honors from Georgetown University and a B.A. from Brown University. She has been named a “Washingtonian of the Year” by Washingtonian Magazine.

Vicki Koussoglou

Vicki Koussoglou

Vicki has more than 10 years of management experience in educational and arts settings. Prior to joining Education Forward DC, she served as Operations Manager at E.L. Haynes Public Charter School in Washington, DC, where she was responsible for the day to day operations of the middle school campus and oversaw school-wide initiatives including student enrollment, vendor management, and financial processing. Earlier in her career, Vicki worked as an events coordinator and concert promoter in Washington, DC and as a community organizer in Richmond, VA. She holds a BA with high distinction honors in Sociology from the University of Virginia.

Cindy Minn

Cindy focuses on investment diligence and management assistance for Education Forward DC human capital grantees. Cindy previously taught second grade ELA at Achievement First North Brooklyn Prep. Before entering the classroom, Cindy supported education businesses and nonprofits with strategic growth initiatives as an analyst at Tuscany Strategy, a Baltimore-based consulting firm. Cindy is a proud first generation college student. She earned a BA in International Studies and Economics from the Johns Hopkins University and a MAT from Relay Graduate School of Education.

Erin Sheehy

Erin Sheehy

Erin recently returned to education after almost thirteen years in private practice at the international law firm Debevoise & Plimpton LLP. Immediately prior to joining Education Forward DC, Erin served as General Counsel of a Washington, DC public charter school serving at-risk middle and high school students. Earlier in her career, Erin worked at an education research firm and participated in an undergraduate teacher education program where she taught in a public high school in Providence, RI. Erin has also worked in public broadcasting, at The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer, The Derek McGinty Show, and The Kojo Nnamdi Show. Erin earned a J.D. magna cum laude from Georgetown University Law Center and a BA from Brown University.

Simone Webster

Simone Webster

Simone focuses on investment diligence and management assistance for grantees of Education Forward DC. She was previously a Data Associate on DC Public Schools' Enrollment Team. There, Simone analyzed demographic data, future enrollment projections, and supply and demand trends to determine enrollment needs within the District. Before her work at DCPS, Simone began her career as a Teach For America corps member at Boston Preparatory Charter Public School, where she taught ninth and eleventh grade math. Simone earned a BA in Sociology from New York University and a master’s degree in Public Affairs from the Woodrow Wilson School at Princeton University.
