Black Lives Matter

We have been taking a hard look inward in the face of racism’s undeniable brutality against Black communities that was on display to the world in the heinous murder of George Floyd on May 25th and in the recent murders of Breonna Taylor, Tony McDade, and Rayshard Brooks. Our work in education is fundamentally a pursuit of racial justice and one of our core values is the disruption of racial inequities in our organization, our schools, and our city. Without these disruptions, our Black students in our city will never get the justice in education and in life that they are entitled to. We must do better to undo centuries of intentional subjugation of Black communities. We commit to being bolder and more disruptive of systemic racist power structures that are violent, disenfranchising, and generally oppressive to Black communities. To those of us on our team who are Black – we see you, we hear you, and you matter. We stand with our partners and all those fighting for racial justice. Judge us by our actions, not our words.
