As Senior Manager for Communications, Matt works to tell the story of Education Forward DC and the innovative efforts of its grantees to set DC’s most underserved students up for success. Before joining Education Forward DC in 2021, Matt served as Deputy Chief of Staff and Communications Director to At-Large DC Councilmember David Grosso, chairperson of the Council’s Committee on Education. There he witnessed the progress made in the last decade to improve the District’s education sector—and the vital work that remains to provide every student with a high-quality, equitable educational experience. Matt earned his BA in Political Science and Master’s in Political Management from The George Washington University. Matt has called DC home for over 17 years and currently lives in Petworth with his husband John and their Boston Terrier Otto. On the weekends, he mentors and shares his love of reading with DC Public School students.
