As the Senior Manager for Development at Education Forward DC, Michael works with the External Relations team to generate the national and local philanthropy needed to support current and future grantees. Before joining Education Forward DC in 2021, Michael spent time working in fundraising within the nonprofit healthcare and higher education sectors. He has a personal connection to social impact and education equity. As the son of an immigrant from Guatemala, he has witnessed the opportunity gaps that exist for English Language Learners as well as the lack of access to high-quality education. Michael earned his BS and Master’s degrees from Florida State University. Michael grew up in Florida and is a huge Miami Heat fan. In his spare time, Michael enjoys playing soccer and basketball, attending live stage performances & sporting events, and exploring new restaurants.
