Last year Education Forward DC embarked on its second round of investing in the visionary leaders who are transforming education to ensure great public schools for every student in the District of Columbia.
As part of this new fund of work, we are happy to debut Education Forward DC’s new look and feel, including our new website and updated logo. Our redesigned online presence aims to look back at our previous five years of work, detail our strategy to support schools’ recovery, and spotlight the amazing ongoing work of our grantees to create a DC where every student can thrive.
While there has been undeniable progress for students over the past few decades, we know it has been insufficient for our students furthest from opportunity. And the global pandemic’s negative impact on our students and families has only deepened those inequities.
DC’s recovery presents an opportunity to accelerate that progress by laying the groundwork for a reimagined learning experience that helps students thrive by meeting their full academic, social, and emotional needs. Over the course of our Fund II investments, Ed Forward DC’s focus will be on funding, supporting, and connecting efforts across the city that seek to aid the recovery from the pandemic’s negative impacts, grow high-quality public schools, address racial inequities, recruit and retain excellent leaders, and foster transformational change.
By the end of this round of work in 2026, we aim to provide DC students greater access to great schools by doubling the proportion of DC schools that offer high-quality, equitable learning experiences.
We’d love to know what you think! Feel free to share any feedback directly with our Senior Manager of Communications Matt Nocella.
We’re so grateful for your continued partnership to create a path forward for all DC students. Working together, we believe DC can continue its progress and become a national model as the first city to guarantee every student access to an excellent education.
