Founded in 1989 with a goal of eliminating educational inequity, Teach For America (TFA) enlists, develops, and mobilizes future leaders to grow and strengthen the movement for educational equity and excellence. TFA recruits and selects top college graduates, who serve as teachers in public or public charter K-12 schools in select underserved communities. Since its founding, TFA has enlisted over 53,000 teachers and has grown to serve 53 communities. TFA has 150 corps members and nearly 2,800 alumni within the Washington, DC region.
