Sean O’Neill


Sean is the Senior Manager, Strategy, and Impact and supports the planning and evaluation efforts at Education Forward DC. As the son of two public school educators, Sean believes strongly in the power of educator- and community-driven public education in disrupting the socioeconomic inequities disenfranchising families living with low incomes. It is with this belief that he was drawn to Education Forward DC, given the organization’s holistic focus on supporting and sustaining high-quality public schools for all students in DC. Prior to joining Education Forward DC in 2018, Sean worked as an Associate Program Office r for the Kresge Foundation’s American Cities Practice. Previously, he led the Talent Management strategy team for Denver Public Schools, where he focused on developing teacher retention strategies. Earlier in his career, he worked as a consultant for the DC office of the Boston Consulting Group and as a Development Specialist for the Brookings Institution’s Metropolitan Policy Program. Sean earned a BS in Hospitality Administration from Cornell University, an MBA from the University of Virginia, and a M.Ed. as part of his participation in the Broad Residency in Urban Education. Originally from Essexville, Michigan, Sean has spent six years living in DC and is currently in the Bloomingdale neighborhood.
