Simone is an Analyst who works with the Schools and Human Capital team to support the creation, development, and growth of high-quality, equitable schools in Washington, DC. As a product of one of the largest public-school systems and a daughter of an educator, Simone believes deeply in the power of public education. She believes that a quality education (though often treated like a privilege) is a right and wants to continue to work to make that a reality. It is with this belief that she was drawn to Education Forward DC, given the organization’s holistic focus on supporting and sustaining high-quality, equitable public schools for all students in DC. Prior to joining Education Forward DC in 2017, Simone was an Associate with DC Public Schools on their Enrollment team. There, she analyzed demographic data, future enrollment projections, and supply and demand trends to determine enrollment needs within the District. Simone started her career as a Teach for America corps member in Boston teaching high school math. Simone earned a BA in Sociology from New York University and a Master’s in Public Affairs from Princeton’s Woodrow Wilson School. A native New Yorker, Simone feels most at home in urban areas. She currently lives in Columbia Heights and has enjoyed getting to know DC. In her time in the District, Simone has developed a love of roller skating at Temple Hills Skate Palace and being an active member of the Washington Improv Theater.
